Strategic Psychotherapy

I perform Strategic Psychotherapy within my sister practice at Gold Coast Clinical Hypnotherapy. The goal of Strategic Psychotherapy within my practice is to promote a desirable change within you. From a dysfunctional balance (the balance of the problem), you get to identify and construct a new, more appropriate balance of the solution. It all starts with your instinctive reactions to the reality you perceive.

How can Strategic Psychotherapy help me?

Strategic Psychotherapy is used to challenge and overcome concerns such as:

  • Performance study skills

  • Motivation

  • Confidence

  • Relationships

  • Anxiety

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Behavioural changes such as smoking, drinking, eating disorders, fears and phobias, pain, and physical ailments

What is Strategic Psychotherapy

Fundamentally, accessing past actions, activities, behaviours & emotions cannot change your past. Similarly, at this ‘’present’’ moment in time you cannot change your future – because your future at this ‘’present’’ moment in time is undefined and hypothetical. You cannot guarantee what happens to you today, tomorrow, next week or next year.

How much time, focus, energy, and emotion do you commit to your past and/or to your future (or to something that has already happened or something that doesn’t exist)? How much do your past actions (which you have already lived and experienced) define your present, and how much does your future (which is hypothetical and hence doesn’t exist) define you in this present moment?

With Strategic Psychotherapy I will guide you to understand and change the processes you use to create and reinforce your current problems.  In this ‘present’ moment in time I am less interested in why things happen than how they happen. You have learnings & knowledge in this ‘present’ moment in time which are relatable, real and have substance relevant to ‘how’ your dysfunctional behaviours happen.

Knowing how your dysfunctional behaviour happens allows you to reframe, contextualise and change this behaviour.  Knowing how to change your present moment in time puts you back in control.  This control ultimately provides you with freedom from your dysfunctional behaviours and ultimately from the mental health concerns which may dominate your life.
